Recently, we received a call from two Danish Democracy Fitness Trainers.
“We want to make a training at work for the Christmas Party – do you have any recommendations?,” they asked …
Ho ho ho… yes, of course we do!
Christmas is a great opportunity to exercise our democracy muscles in a fun and meaningful way.
If you are not yet a certified Democracy Fitness Trainer (but understand Danish), you are very welcome to use our “Merry Christmas Democracy” printable material. You can download the pdf here.
If you are already a certified Democracy Fitness trainer, it works really well to train the disagreement muscle with a Christmas twist.
Instead of political dilemmas, you can use Christmas dilemmas and ask questions like:
“Right now – are you more FOR or AGAINST …”
- Secret Santa
-
WHAM! – Last Christmas
-
Recycled gifts
-
A Christmas tree made of plastic
-
Sukkah in the brown cookies
-
More gifts for children than adults
-
No gifts this year
-
Duck AND pig for the Christmas dinner
-
Heating the potato crisps before serving
-
Scratch calendar
These dilemmas should do the trick and divide the group evenly.
Then you will have an fun, active and most likely very interesting disagreement-ping-pong and after that a very profound ‘stay in the disagreement round’ digging in to the values behind your Christmas-preferences.
Remember – as always – to come out of the disagreement properly and connect the experience to our everyday democracy.
Happy training – and Merry Democracy Christmas!
