The local and regional council elections are now over, but the work with democracy doesn’t stop here. At Democracy Fitness, we have of course focused on exercising our democratic muscles in the run-up to the elections – and we’ve actually done quite a few workouts!
During the election period alone, we have conducted trainings in five different cities – Hanstholm, Mors, Roskilde, Aabenraa and Copenhagen. We have visited at least six schools and educational institutions. We have held three trainings in the Democracy Garage in Nordvest in Copenhagen.
Democracy Fitness is for everyone; old, young and young at heart – even those who don’t have the right to vote. Because although yesterday’s election day was about putting a cross, democracy is about much more than that. For democracy to work, we don’t just need to strengthen our democratic muscles in the run-up to political elections. Democracy doesn’t just live in the voting booths and town halls, but in everything we do between elections; when we listen to each other, disagree, have opinions, be brave and much more.
The election is over, but the training of our democratic muscles continues every day!
